The UCLA Bruins beat Mississippi State 8-0, winning the 109th national title in sports for UCLA, in game 2. The Bruins took the lead in the first inning after Brian Carroll was hit by a pitch, but then went on to score a run. Eric Filia managed to drive in five of those runs. UCLA's starting pitcher Nick Vander Tuig kept Mississippi at bay for eight innings, slowing them down with five hits and one walk. The Bruins would later score 8 runs on 12 hits, winning them the national title.
