The University of Florida beat LSU 6 to 1 in game 2 of the 2017 College World Series, securing their first national title in baseball. A pair of runs gave the Gators an early 2-0 lead. LSU managed to get their leadoff man on when center fielder Zach Watson singled in the top of the seventh. He went on to steal second and then scored on third baseman Josh Smith's double, not without the help of an assist and a dive attempt by Florida right fielder Ryan Larson. In the bottom of the eighth, Florida broke away with four more runs, which all but sealed the deal for a national title.
