Coastal Carolina scored their first national championship in any sport by beating the Arizona Wild Cats 4-3. In game 3 of the College World Series finals, Coastal Carolina pulled ahead by taking advantage of two errors within the same play to score four runs in the sixth inning. Andrew Beckwith was named the Most Outstanding Player after pitching two complete games and going 5 2/3 innings in his third victory of the CWS. Arizona managed to get within one run in the bottom of the ninth. Alex Cunningham made his first save by striking out Ryan Haug with a full-count fastball to win it for Coastal Carolina.
